Zidoval Gel only treats a vaginal infection called bacterial vaginosis. It is not usable for any other purpose. Zidoval Gel cannot treat other vaginal infections, such as the thrush caused by different bacteria.

Zidoval contains metronidazole, an antibiotic medicine that treats many infections. Metronidazole is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by interfering in its DNA. It kills the anaerobic strain of bacteria, which doesn’t require oxygen to grow. This type of bacteria is responsible for causing bacterial vaginosis (BV). Metronidazole should be applied topically for five consecutive days to treat your infection.

Metronidazole can only be purchased by prescription. It treats parasitic infections as well as kills bacteria. It is not very effective on viral infections.

Zidoval is to be used at the same time every day for the best results. The infection can return if you stop treatment too soon.

Before using Zidoval Gel 0.75 Metronidazole, you should consult your doctor or another healthcare provider.

To speed up the healing process it is important to maintain good hygiene when using Zidoval BV Gel. Wash your hands before applying Zidoval BV gel. Use a fresh disposable applicator provided with Zidoval gel.

One adult dose of 5g is inserted into the vagina daily for five days, usually at bedtime.

Screw the open end of the tube onto the applicator to fill it. To fill the applicator, squeeze the tube from its bottom. As the applicator fills, the plunger will move and stop when it reaches the required dose of 5g. Remove the applicator from the tube and then replace the cap.

Hold the applicator from the barrel and then gently insert it into your vagina. It may be easier if you lie on your back, with your knees bent.

Slowly push the plunger downwards to release the gel. Continue pressing until the plunger stops. Then remove the applicator and throw it and use a fresh applicator every time you apply Zidoval gel.

Consult your doctor if the problem persists even after the five days course.

Zidoval gel should only be used for the prescribed time by your doctor, even on your periods. Avoid using tampons if you have an infection. Instead, use unscented sanitary pads.

You may feel dizzy or sick if you drink alcohol while using Zidoval gel. It is less likely to occur with Zidoval vaginal gel than with metronidazole tablets. You should avoid alcohol while you use the gel and for 24 hours after you finish your course.

Avoid using Zidoval Gel if you are:

Allergic to metronidazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
Allergic to any similar nitroimidazole antibacterial products
Allergic to parabens

Consult your doctor before using Zidoval gel if you have or ever had:

a disease affecting the blood or blood disorder
a vaginal thrush

Side effects can occur with all medicines, but it does not affect everybody. It has rare side effects. Side effects of Zidoval gel may include:
